Interior design: Easy decorating ideas for spring

It’s often said that painting is the least expensive way to update a home’s interior. While that may be the case, you don’t have to change the paint color every season to get a fresh look.

Here are some tips from paint-maker Benjamin Moore that can be a starting point to give your home a new look for spring.

If you’re influenced by spring’s colors, try brightening things up with fresh, soft choices accented by fashion-forward pastels such as the gently colored Palladian Blue. Not ready to commit to painting an entire room? Try a pop of color on an accent wall or a piece of furniture.

Dip your toe.  Paint the insides of a bookcase an unexpected color. A navy, such as Van Deusen Blue (HC-156) is a gorgeously rich choice. Many people associate navy with winter, but, as illustrated in the room shown above, it can also have a nautical feel for spring and summer. Keep the navy lively through different seasons by alternating color pairings and accessories. Try complementary pops of color from a beautiful photo frame or book ends. You might also consider accentuating doors or the inside of a closet with deeper colors – it can give the room a jewelry-box feel.
